A Little Bit About Me:
Hi, There! My name is Randi & I go by she/they pronouns.
Like most mental health professionals, I joined this field because I have a deep desire to help other people make meaningful change in their lives. What may be more unique about me is in addition to my education and professional background, that I have lived experience in overcoming adversity.
I grew up in in foster care where I lived and moved into over twenty homes in the midwest before I aged out of the system at the age of 21. I saw a lot of people suffer around me, including myself. I experienced different types of childhood abuse, trauma, and grief growing up. I also experienced systemic barriers from growing up in poverty, being neurodivergent, existing as a plus-size (aka fat) and femme presenting person. I have learned a lot about suffering through my experience, education, and my career.
Although I have faced a multitude of adversity, I also have to recognize the privileges I have of being white and able-bodied. It is with these privileges, a few right environmental factors, some caring people, a bit of counseling, and a deep desire to persevere that I have healed and overcame.
I know what it is like to see people falling through the cracks of different systems, raw, and suffering from a complexity of things going on. I want to help other people learn that they can heal, that they are not alone and on a very deep level that it is possible to change your life, heal, and break through barriers.
